Technical Revenue Senior Manager

Technical Revenue Senior Manager needed for Media Company in the South Bay. This individual will report to the Director of Technical Accounting and be primarily responsible for implementing the company wide revenue recognition policy, processes and reporting. This position will perform monthly and quarterly close activities for revenue, analyze and reconcile all license revenue related accounts, and prepare reports for auditors and management.


Work collaboratively with sales, legal and engineering organizations to provide technical revenue and accounting guidance during contract negotiations, ensure compliance with revenue recognition authoritative literature, and proper revenue recognition treatment

Ensure revenue recognition in company financials is in accordance with US GAAP, including but not limited to evaluating licensing, hosting, professional services, and multiple-element arrangements

Research accounting guidance and write technical accounting memos that analyze and conclude on accounting issues and their impact on company financials. Analyze and interpret accounting standards to support new business requirements

Interpret revenue arrangements, assess and summarize revenue implications, and document conclusions on revenue recognition treatment for all arrangements in accordance with current US GAAP and ASC 606, for such issues as contract modification, principal versus agent, and non-cash consideration.

Implement the company s revenue recognition policy and ensure proper accounting treatments are in place for all licensing and content distribution arrangements, working with FP&A and accounts receivable. Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reports from NetSuite.

Manage monthly revenue accounting close efforts, including cut-off procedures and preparation of auditable revenue and deferred revenue workpapers

Technical Skills:

Experience working in a growing fast paced environment, prior experience in entertainment or software licensing preferred

Degree in Accounting or similar required

5+ years accounting/revenue recognition experience or related corporate accounting experience required

2+ years of public accounting experience; CPA preferred

Experience in the application of US GAAP revenue standards and ASC 606 implementation requirements

Superior Excel and Word skills; Salesforce and NetSuite experience highly desired
