Biotech firm is seeking an Interim Controller to join the Finance department in a fast-paced environment. Position will be responsible for overseeing the accounting department, including financial reporting, information systems, treasury, fixed assets, tax, AP, payroll, and ensuring maintenance of proper internal controls. This position reports to the CFO.

The primary responsibilities include:
Oversee completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Evaluate and optimize accounting operations
Responsible for the annual and quarterly financial statements to be included in SEC reports
Coordinate preparation of corporate tax returns and reporting with outside tax accountants
Implement and ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures
Manage annual financial audit
Maintain internal controls for key processes and SOX compliance, and participate in Audit Committee reporting and meeting
Review journal entries and account reconciliations
Oversee financial operations including A/P, billing and A/R
Coach and mentor team members
Partner with FP&A for internal reporting, R&D accruals and revenue recognition, budgets, forecasts and special projects
Oversee day-to-day banking operations and investment management
Oversee stock administration
Business support including review of significant company contracts
Additional responsibilities may include:
Advise regarding financial information systems implementation, monitoring and controls
Represent Finance in discussions with Legal, HR and IT on process improvement
Administrate 401(k), manage audit process and annual From 5500 filing

Requirements
BA/BS degree
CPA license required
15+ years of experience; biotechnology-type industry experience strongly preferred
Big Four certified public accounting firm experience highly preferred
Experience at a publicly-traded company is required, preferably in a SOX 404(b) environment
Expert knowledge of SEC rules and regulations, procedures and practices
Excellent knowledge of ERP systems
Excellent written and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with executive management and other departments
Strong leadership, management, and organizational skills
Critical thinking applied to make sound business decisions
Proven experience on building team in collaborative environment and resolving conflicts
Detail-oriented and positive attitude
