R&D Senior Accountant

The R&D Accountant will perform close procedures related to clinical trials and other R&D activities. The R&D accountant will team with the R&D Accounting Manager to ensure a thorough understanding of all clinical, preclinical and manufacturing activities are understood and recorded in accordance with GAAP.
Role Profile: o Work with R&D Accounting Manager, FP&A and program teams to understand in sufficient detail the budgets and strategic direction of clinical, preclinical and manufacturing activities. O Perform monthly accounting for R&D activities (i.E. Monitor contract schedules and timelines, prepare journal entries for accruals, track invoices, confirm project, department, account coding, etc.). O Review the financial terms and accounting treatment for all new contracts, work orders and change orders and forecast GAAP expenses to determine monthly accrual entries. O Coordinate with vendors to obtain updates on all contracts, work orders and change orders. O Assist with vendor confirmations, to verify account balances and project status. O Contribute to the preparation and presentation of monthly reporting of R&D cost trends. O Support all financial statement and ICOFR audit inquires/requests. O Contribute to the clinical trial SOX process (update narrative documentation, key control identification/refinement, develop and/or enhance control set to address business/financial reporting risks). O Provide ad hoc support for technical accounting issues associated with non recurring, significant transactions. O Identify and implement process improvements and analysis as new accounting and agreement requirements arise o Ad hoc reports and analysis (i.E. Vendor analysis, CFO Review Package, internal/external spend analysis, etc.).
We Seek Candidates With the Following Qualifications: o Bachelor' s degree in Accounting or Finance and CPA o Minimum of 3 years professional experience with 2 years in public accounting; o Life science (pharmaceutical, biotech or CRO) experience heavily preferred o Understanding of GAAP and accrual based accounting o Must possess strong finance skills, analytical ability, and solid business acumen o Ability to work independently, prioritize work, and handle simultaneous assignments under tight deadlines and in a fast paced environment o Possess a superior attention to detail and a commitment to timely but accurate work o Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across organizations and utilize resources effectively o Excellent verbal and written communication skills o Advanced proficiency with Excel
